The Act of Births and Deaths creates a way for citizens and their families to register any births or deaths, as well as establishing how the Government releases this information.

Section 1 – Registration of births and deaths
A | The Government should process all registrations of births and deaths. |
B | Only citizens may register births where they are able to provide evidence of parental rights over the child. |
C | Only citizens and their families may register deaths where they are able to provide sufficient records of the death. |
D | The Government should only process registrations of births and deaths where the requirements stated in Part B and Part C are met. |
Section 2 – Documentation of births and deaths
A | The Government should issue a certificate of birth or a certificate of death to the registrant, where sufficient information has been provided to do so. |
B | Where they meet the requirements stated in Section 1 Part B and Section 1 Part C, citizens and their families may request that certificates of births or deaths be amended. The Government should comply where sufficient information has been provided to do so. |
C | The Government may revoke any issued certificates of births or deaths and should make an attempt to inform the registrant where it is possible to do so. |
D | Certificates of births or deaths should be recognised by the Government and any public bodies. |
Section 3 – Records of births and deaths
A | The Government should record all information regarding births and deaths to a public directory. |
B | Information regarding births and deaths should only be released by the Government upon request by an Official, the family of the individual or to any foreign authorities where it is in the best interest to comply with such request. |
