Interior announces changes to citizen status

The Department of the Interior has announced changes to citizen status, following amendments to the Act of Citizenship.

What do the changes mean?

  • The terminology around citizen status has changed, with all citizens now being classified as ‘international citizens’.
  • New certificates of citizen status are being issued by the Department of the Interior.
  • New citizen tracking IDs are being issued by the Department of the Interior for all citizens.

Please note that this list is non-exhaustive of all changes to citizen status that are being made by the Department of the Interior and as according to the Act of Citizenship.

What do citizens need to do?

Citizens should look out for emails from the Department of the Interior that enclose their new certificates of citizen status. These certificates should be saved and kept secure, as they contain sensitive information such as citizen tracking IDs.
